Amid heavy rains, a massive amount of water has been discharged from the Hatnur Dam into the Tapi River in Jalgaon. A video posted by the news agency ANI shows mammoth water streams flowing directly into the river. Notably, due to continuous rainfall, water was released from the Hathni Kund barrage leading to a rise in the water level of Yamuna in Delhi. On Sunday, Mumbai received a fresh spell of rain leading to troubles for commuters. Around 110 people stranded in flood-hit Mahagaon tehsil of eastern Maharashtra’s Yavatmal were rescued after incessant rain battered the district. According to PTI, Mahagaon tehsil recorded 231 mm of rainfall from midnight till Saturday morning, while the district recorded 117.5 mm of showers.

North Indian states are reeling under severe monsoon mayhem as roads are flooded, rivers are flowing over the danger mark, and waterlogging is hindering all kinds of commute leaving residents helpless.

After wreaking havoc in the hill states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, heavy showers in Maharashtra and Gujarat have created a flood-like situation in the two states. Meanwhile, a cloudburst in Ladakh and a fresh spell of rain in Uttarakhand have raised the threat of a rise in the water level again in Delhi which has witnessed the worst flooding since 1978. The rise in the water level of Hindon river forced authorities to evacuate thousands from Noida and Ghaziabad.

The Indian Air Force as well as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is engaged in rescue work in a village in Mahagaon tehsil of eastern Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district on Saturday evening. Two helicopters of the Indian Air Force reached the spot to take part in the rescue operation, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.
