The final week of the summer window is upon us and there remains plenty of business still to be done. The biggest story is Mohamed Salah’s potential move to Saudi Arabia. The Liverpool star has reportedly told his club that he wants to join Al-Ittihad, who are willing to make him the highest-paid player in the world. Arsenal are focusing on outgoings, having again spent huge money, and want up to eight first-team stars gone before the deadline, including Gabriel and Folarin Balogun, and could then work on a surprise deal for Barcelona defender Eric Garcia.
Chelsea are keen to bring in another striker after early season struggles in front of goal, and have interest in Brennan Johnson, but the £50million-rated Nottingham Forest forward prefers a move to Tottenham, who are set to make their move. Spurs also like Ivan Toney ahead of the January window, and Brentford have quickly slapped an £80m asking price on his head. Romelu Lukaku is set to join Roma on loan, meanwhile.
Mohammed Kudus has signed for West Ham after some initial concerns the deal had fallen through, while Crystal Palace are set to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United for around £20m. Manchester United will sign goalkeeper Altay Bayındır as his replacement, and could launch a bid for Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella or Spurs outcast Sergio Reguilon. Done deal! West Ham sign Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus has officially completed his transfer to West Ham.
The Ghanaian attacking midfielder heads to the Premier League from Eredivisie giants Ajax in a deal worth around £38million plus add-ons, having been on the transfer radar of several top English clubs across the summer window.
Kudus has signed a five-year contract at West Ham and will wear the No14 shirt recently vacated by Ivorian winger Maxwel Cornet, who moved to No17 for the 2023/24 campaign. His deal is said to include the option for a further 12 months, with a sell-on clause secured by Ajax.
The 23-year-old, who was also of interest to Chelsea at one stage and similarly linked with Arsenal and Brighton among many others, is David Moyes’ fourth summer signing of the summer after deals for midfield pair James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez plus former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who joined for £20m from Stuttgart earlier this week.

Tottenham to launch Johnson bid
Tottenham will launch a bid for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson in the final days of the transfer window, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Johnson has emerged as Spurs’ next transfer target of another busy summer which has seen them spend around £165million, but also recoup more than £100m with the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
Spurs have decided rather than signing an outright replacement for Kane they will spread the goals across the squad, and the imminent push to sign the 22-year-old, who can play across the forward line, is part of that strategy.
Forest do not want to lose a player who scored 10 goals, and added three assists, last season and will demand £50million for Johnson, who is homegrown.

Salah set for Saudi medical
Remarkable claims coming out of Saudi Arabia this morning suggest Mohamed Salah will play his final game for Liverpool today before flying out to join Al-Ittihad.
KSA Sports TV report that Salah will bid farewell to the Reds today in their game at Newcastle and then undergo a medical in Dubia.
Liverpool have reportedly been set a deadline of tomorrow to accept a bid worth more than £80million for their talisman.
Chelsea and Roma ask Lukaku to take pay cut
Chelsea and Roma have asked Romelu Lukaku to take a £7million pay cut to sanction his loan move back to Italy.
Lukaku’s £325,000-a-week wages at Chelsea see him earn around £17m a year, a salary out of reach for Roma and the Blues are unwilling to subsidise.
Chelsea also want Lukaku to agree to reduce his salary for the remainder of his contract, beyond any loan deal for the coming season and until 2026, with Roma only willing to pay £7m for the striker’s temporary move.
For the Blues to accept a lower loan fee, they want to make significant savings on Lukaku’s wages, who remains the highest-paid player at Stamford Bridge.

Sheffield United have signed Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer in a deal worth around £18million.
Villa have decided to cash in on the highly rated 21-year-old, who has found regular opportunities hard to come by.
Odds shorten on Saudi move for Salah
Things are hotting up regarding a possible Saudi Arabia move for Mohammed Salah.
Liverpool are in action today, facing Newcastle, but are reportedly mulling over an £80m bid for their star man.
As such, Salah has gone from 3/1 to 6/4 with Betfair to join any Saudi team before September 4.
Palace set to sign Henderson from Man United
Crystal Palace are set to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United.
A deal worth £15million, plus a further £5m in add-ons, with a sell-on percentage included, has been agreed between the two clubs.
Personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
Nottingham Forest were interested after Henderson spent last season on loan at the County Ground, but Palace have won the race.
Man United launch Cucurella and Reguilon bids
Manchester United are weighing up moves for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon as they look for reinforcements at left-back.
With Luke Shaw set to be sidelined for at least two months, after picking up a muscular injury, Erik ten Hag is low on available left-backs.
Reguilon has not played for Tottenham since April 2022 and spent a frustrating spell on loan at Atletico Madrid last season. United explored signing the Spaniard in 2020, but eventually opted against it.
Cucurella is also out of favour at his club, despite joining from Brighton in a deal worth a staggering £62million less than a year ago. Manager Mauricio Pochettino prefers Ben Chilwell at left wing-back.
Manchester Evening News report that both Spaniards are of interest at United as the club look to sign a specialist left-back, most likely on loan.

Lukaku confirms imminent Roma move
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has confirmed his imminent move to Roma.
The Belgian has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, two years after joining for Inter Milan in a deal worth almost £100million, and is desperate to find a new club before Friday’s summer transfer deadline.
Chelsea were hoping to recoup some of their transfer outlay and did accept a £40m bid from a Saudi Arabian club for Lukaku, only for the striker to reject a move to the Middle East. Juventus were also keen, but only if Chelsea signed Dusan Vlahovic and offered cash.
The Blues have now reluctantly made Lukaku available for loan and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made his move, which the striker has now confirmed.

Salah demands Saudi move
Mohamed Salah has told Liverpool he wants to join Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia!
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, the Egyptian has made up his mind and wants Liverpool to accept a bid – worth more than $100million [£79.5m) – that is on the table.
Liverpool are considering the offer and a deadline of tomorrow has been set to accept or reject.
As one transfer reporter says: crucial hours ahead.
