There’s just a 30-per-cent chance of showers in the Montreal area Thursday, but Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement forecasting heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday that could exceed 50 millimetres.
The statement, issued at 5:08 a.m. Thursday, notes that the precipitation could include thunderstorms and that “rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 millimetres are expected over southern Quebec beginning Friday morning. However, amounts could locally exceed 50 millimetres in thunderstorms.”

The statement warns that heavy rain could cause flash flooding and ponding on roads and that localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
Thursday, expect a showers and a high of 28 C during the day, with a UV index of 8, or very high. With the humidex, it’ll feel more like 33 C. At night, a low of 19 C.
