Singapore’s transport minister, S Iswaran, is facing a corruption investigation and has been temporarily replaced by senior minister of state Chee Hong Tat.
Iswaran is currently assisting the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) with the investigation.
“Singapore adopts a strict zero-tolerance approach towards corruption. CPIB investigates all cases without fear or favour and will not hesitate to take action against any parties involved in corrupt activities,” the bureau stated without releasing any details of the graft accusations.
The investigation into Iswaran, who is also Singapore’s minister for trade relations, marks the most high-profile political corruption case in the city-state since 1986.
