A female with severe peanut allergies was allegedly assaulted with peanut butter at a Hamilton high school, according to a report.

Hamilton Police said they responded to an assault on Tuesday at Sherwood Secondary School near Mohawk Rd. E. and Upper Gage Ave. in the city’s East Mountain area, according to the Hamilton Spectator.

“The victim had her face slapped by a hand covered in peanut butter before the suspect fled the school,” public information officer Const. Indy Bharaj told the Spectator.

Bharaj also told the Spectator that the victim is “severely allergic” to peanuts. She used her EpiPen, but still had a reaction and was taken to a hospital.
The Spectator reported that it was not clear if the victim and the suspect were students and police declined to comment further to “protect the privacy of the minors involved,” a spokesperson said.
The suspect, who was released on an undertaking, is charged with assault causing bodily harm, criminal harassment and administering a noxious substance “with intent to endanger life or cause bodily harm,” the spokesperson told the Spectator.
