New Delhi: A major security lapse took place in the security of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He was out on his daily morning walk in Patna today when two bikers came very close to the chief minister.

He was forced to swiftly jump from the road onto the sidewalk to ensure his safety. According to sources, the incident occurred while he was heading from his residence towards 7 Circular Road.

Security personnel detained the bikers and are interrogating them, said reports.

After the incident, the SSG (Special Security Group) commandant and Patna SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) were summoned to the Chief Minister’s residence.

Earlier on Wednesday, CM Nitish Kumar advocated for an “early” Lok Sabha elections that are scheduled to be held next year, ahead of the Opposition meeting in Patna on June 23.

Addressing an event in the state capital, he urged the officials to complete the slated projects as soon as possible as the general elections could be rescheduled.

Nitish Kumar made the remarks while speaking at an event to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate some development schemes for the state.

“I was told during the department’s review meeting that all projects would be completed by January 2024. I will request you all to complete all projects as soon as possible. Nobody knows when the Lok Sabha polls will be held. It is not necessary that Lok Sabha elections will be held next year only. It is possible that it may be held before time,” he said, hinting at an early election.

The Opposition meeting, that was earlier scheduled to be held on June 12, aims to create the framework for a coalition of like-minded Opposition parties to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP administration at the Centre.

However, the meeting was postponed when key Opposition leaders, including Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, stated they were unable to attend on June 12, citing previous commitments and preoccupations.
