The holiday season has officially begun in Sandwich Towne.
Santa Claus spread joy across the west side neighbourhood Saturday, spending time eating and reading and singing with area families during the Miracle in Sandwich Towne holiday event.

The day began with an early morning breakfast with Santa at Olde Towne Bake Shoppe in the historic McGregor-Cowan House.

Shoppers strolled the Christmas bazaar at St. John’s Anglican Church parish hall, picking up decorations, gifts, collectibles and handcrafted items.
Kids and their parents had plenty of fun activities to keep them busy.
There were drop-in craft activities at Mackenzie Hall, Sandwich Brewing Company, the Gordie Howe International Bridge community office and the John Muir Library.
Popcorn garlands were strung, ornaments were painted and a colouring contest was held, all with a background of seasonal live music.
Six-year-old Schyler Badour and her dad, Joseph Badour, spent a fun daddy-daughter day together taking in most of the area’s events.
Schyler decorated a cute pair of snowmen ornaments for the family’s Christmas tree.
“We’re having a great time,” Badour said.
Santa read stories to the children and posed for photos everywhere he went with his elf assistant.
The festival was capped off by the community tree lighting ceremony in Mary E. Bibb Park and a classic carol sing-along after dark.
