During Canada Day, I always like to take this special time of the year to thank Canada for accepting me as a citizen. It has helped make my life wonderful.

Like millions of people in Canada, I came from a foreign country. I came to Canada in 1983 when I was 18. I arrived with a grateful heart.
It was a challenge for me to learn English and to graduate from a local high school and St. Clair College.
Nothing was easy for my success, but without Canada I would have had no foundation to build up my achievements.
Some people may complain about different things in their life, but I would rather choose to count my blessings living here in Canada.
We do have things that need to be improved in our society as nothing is ever perfect. Perhaps we can focus on improvements by participating more in community efforts, including always casting your vote in an election.
I am thankful for our freedom and very thankful to be living in Canada.
