The Sûreté du Québec believes a massage therapist, currently facing a dozen sexual-assault charges at a courthouse in Rivière-du-Loup, had other victims while he worked in different regions of Quebec.
In March, Steeve Pellerin, 49, appeared before a judge at the provincial courthouse in Rivière-du-Loup, a town 430 kilometres northeast of Montreal, and was charged with two counts of sexual assault. At least one of the charges involved an incident that occurred as recently as February.

Pellerin was released on March 15, after he agreed to follow a series of court-ordered conditions.
The SQ investigated Pellerin further and, earlier this week, he was arrested a second time and charged with 11 additional counts of sexual assault.
“The events allegedly took place between June 1, 2005 and July 28, 2022 as part of his work as a massage therapist,” the SQ said in a release on Thursday.
“The investigation tends to demonstrate the suspect could have had other victims elsewhere in Quebec due to his job as a massage therapist that he practised in different regions of Quebec.”
The provincial police added that “since several victims have been identified, the management structure for serial crime investigations (GECS), co-ordinated by the Sûreté du Québec, has been deployed. It is a unified command structure in which Quebec police services work in partnership to quickly identify crimes committed by predators and arrest them.”
