Police have taped off at least two houses in the southeast neighbourhood of Dover in connection to Monday’s shooting in a Marlborough Park strip mall, CPS confirmed with Postmedia Tuesday morning.
The houses are located near the 3400 block of 30A Avenue S.E., and police said they’re slated to hold a news conference with an update on the case Tuesday afternoon.

The attack, the fifth shooting in less than a week, occurred around 2 p.m. outside the Save-On Foods store at the TransCanada shopping centre, at 16th Avenue and 52nd Street N.E.
One person was killed and two others were critically injured. Police believe the offenders fled the scene before officers’ arrival.
Investigators don’t believe there is a threat to public safety and officers have scoured the area looking for suspects.
It was the fifth instance of gun crime in the city in less than a week, three of which occurred in northeast Calgary.
Cory Dayley, superintendent of criminal operations and intelligence, told reporters Monday that Calgary police investigators believe all incidents “have the hallmarks” of organized crime, and were possibly acts of retaliation.
“Each one of these incidents has occurred within a community, some in broad daylight and some narrowly missing innocent bystanders,” he said. “We know Calgarians are shocked and concerned and these incidents will have lasting impacts on our community.”

Dayley said violence caused by organized crime is often difficult to solve due to the lack of co-operation from those involved. “The extra steps taken by offenders to plan these acts, conceal their identity and dispose of evidence makes it increasingly difficult to investigate these crimes,” he said.
The Marlborough Park incident comes on the heels of a shooting in MacEwan early Sunday. Multiple houses were hit by stray bullets along MacEwan Glen Drive N.W. when gunfire broke out shortly after 2 a.m., according to witnesses.
The incidents are the latest in a recent string of gun violence in Calgary.
“It is not common we’d see this many days in a row with this type of violence,” Dayley said.
On Saturday, a group broke into a home in the northeast community of Abbeydale, where police say they assaulted two occupants and then sprayed nearby homes with bullets as they fled.
That incident came two days after one occupant of a vehicle was shot in the 900 block of Marcombe Drive N.E., in Marlborough. Police said the vehicle then struck a tree, injuring two other occupants.
Calgary police said Tuesday a fifth shooting happened early Monday morning. Police were called at around 4:30 a.m. for reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound who was dropped off at the Foothills Medical Centre.

Police said it’s believed the man attended a residence located in the 7700 block of Bowness Road N.W. The victim has since been released from hospital.
It is unknown where the shooting occurred.
“These people know who their targets are, they know who the other groups in town are and they’re prepared to take action when they see or come upon these people,” Dayley said. “That’s why we’re seeing more brazen, daytime or public shootings. They might not get a second chance and they take the opportunity when they see it.”
