The NSW Premier Chris Minns has promised to light up the Sydney Opera House’s sails if the Matildas make it to the knockout stages of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. After facing criticism, Mr Minns has backflipped on a previous decision, now promising to honour the team if they make it out of the group stages. The Premier defended his decision for not lighting up the sails for the opening game in Sydney, saying he didn’t want to jinx the team.
