Regional Victorian towns across the state faced record rain totals as more than 180mm fell in some areas leading to more than 1700 calls for help.
Emergency warnings as of 10am:
* Seymour residents ordered to evacuate immediately as flood waters reached 6.8m, just below major flooding level
* Too late to leave Rochester as flood levels reach 114.8m, closing major roads
* Too late to leave for people in low-lying parts of Yea
* If you have not evacuated, shelter in the highest location possible
Rainfall as of Monday:
* Heathcote recorded more than 180mm of rain, amounting to three months’ worth in 24 hours
* Rochester endured 125mm of rain, breaking 120-year records.
* Redesdale’s more than 117mm in 24 hours was a daily record in 120 years of data.
* The 92mm recorded in Bendigo broke 90-year records.
The latest situation:
* Nine current watch and act alerts across central Victoria.
* Major flooding occurring at Rochester township, peaking Tuesday mid-morning, as 35 homes face flooding.
* Major flooding at Campaspe Weir along the Campaspe River.
* Moderate flooding occurring at Sunday Creek at Tallarook, Seymour, Rochester Syphon, Bendigo Creek downstream Minto and Tanjil River.
* A landslide, about 40m wide and 70m long, has occurred near Mount Dandenong Tourist Road in Ferny Creek.
* People urged to prepare now, avoid flooded areas and move to higher ground.
What’s expected over the coming days:
* Major flooding is possible in Murchison and Shepparton overnight Wednesday and into Thursday.
* Kialla and Mooroopna near Shepparton are on alert for minor flooding.
* Wangaratta and Echuca face flood risks over coming days.
* Loddon and Evoca River communities face minor flooding in the coming days.
* Widespread heavy rainfall not expected for the rest of the week as weather system pushes north towards NSW.
