Good evening one and all, and welcome to round two of the 2024 AFL season. Thursday night footy has been kind to us this week, delivering a game of monumental significance – even this early in the year – and an occasion that means the world to St Kilda and the wider footy community.
Tonight is Spud’s Game, now a real highlight in St Kilda’s calendar. The hope is this game will not only raise awareness and start conversations about mental illness, but also raise valuable funds for the many mental health initiatives run out of the Danny Frawley Centre. And it’s all done in Danny’s name, something truly positive coming from his tragic death.
There’s also the small matter of the rising Saints taking on the reigning champs Collingwood, who are currently 0-2 to start the season. But more on that soon.
It’s a huge night, so stick around and keep me company for the ride.
