The local elections are fast approaching in the Pakuranga electorate.

Are you able to vote this year? Are you ready to make a vote that will make an impact in your community? Howick Youth Council is currently planning an event to take away all your doubts surrounding this year’s local elections, helping you become informed and ready to cast your vote!

Howick Youth Council presents Pakuranga Election Forums to prepare for the upcoming elections. This is an amazing opportunity for youth to get to know their local candidates, for candidates to share their thoughts on different topics, and to answer pressing questions.

The Pakuranga Election Forum will be held at the Uxbridge Arts and Culture Centre on September 11 from 7:30pm until 9pm.

Tickets for the event are on Eventfinda. Registration for a ticket is necessary for entry, but is free of charge. While targeted to local voting-age youth, the forums are open to all!

The format for this event will be a facilitated question time. Attendees who are curious about things prior to the event are able to submit questions for the MPs in a submission form. As well as this, pre-planned topics that will be under discussion have been chosen based on their significance to youth in our communities.

This year’s topics include crisis management, education, environment, health and wellbeing, transport, social welfare and housing. Platforms will also be available for attendees (in person, or virtual attendees) to ask questions during the forum, either via Facebook or Zeetings.

If you are confused about who to vote for in these local elections, and feeling unprepared, Howick Youth Council wants to take away all these doubts, filling you with your confidence to make an empowered decision that best represents your interests.

So register and come along to our Pakuranga Election Forum to meet your local candidates!

To reserve free tickets for the event on EventFinda visiteventfinda.co.nz/2023/pakuranga-election-forum2/auckland/howick.
