The weekend is shaping up to be dangerously hot in many capital cities, as a shift in the heat from central Australia into the southeast is increasing temperatures for Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
Melbourne is forecast to reach 37 degrees on Sunday, while northern parts of Victoria are expected to surpass 43 degrees.
Canberra will experience above average temperatures as well, reaching 35 degrees tomorrow.
Sydney is set to warm up from tomorrow, peaking in Penrith at 39 degrees.
The city may possibly see one of the warmest nights in a year on Sunday.
