Epic $552 off new ‘powerful, long lasting’ Dyson

Founded by engineer James Dyson, the brand is famous for inventing the Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner but in recent years has created numerous other appliances that have made their way onto our most-wanted lists.

No, Dyson products aren’t cheap by anyone’s standards but Black Friday and Cyber Weekend sees plenty of the brand’s best selling items marked down steeply.

Keen to score yourself a Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner or state-of-the-art fan at a huge discount? The Black Friday sales are coming up, which is the perfect time to finally snag the Dyson Airwrap or vacuum you’ve had your eye on.

We may still be a couple of weeks away from Black Friday officially starting, but The Good Guys have already dropped the deal of the century with a whopping $552 off Dyson’s latest stick vac (and the brand’s first wet-dry vacuum) – the V15s Detect Submarine Cordless Vacuum. We rarely see Dyson stick vacs on sale with this big of a discount, especially new models, so this has definitely got us excited.

Shoppers have been “extremely happy” with the two-in-one vacuum and mop, with one reviewer saying it has a “powerful, long lasting battery” and is a “breeze to use”.

“I’ve struggled to find a decent cleaner for our sandstone floors but this one wins hands down,” they posted.

I also personally found the clean unbelievable after testing the V15s Detect Submarine Cordless Vacuum Complete, which is basically the same unit but without the Fluffy Optic cleaner head.

Prices have also dropped for the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute, another relatively newer model. It’s currently $450 off and customers call it “the best vacuum I’ve ever owned” due to its amazing suction and green light, which allows you to spot every single spot of dust.

WHEN IS BLACK FRIDAY?

Marked in bold in every savvy shopper’s diary, Black Friday took place on November 24 (with its sister sale Cyber Monday set for November 27).

Black Friday originated in the US as a post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas spending event but has since spread voraciously around the world, cementing its place as a major global shopping event.

While we’re still a few weeks out from the official Black Friday date it hasn’t stopped some retailers from offering some great early deals, which we’ve collated below – happy shopping!

There are a few reasons the post-thanksgiving sale is called “Black Friday”. Firstly, it’s said that it began in 1869, when Jim Fisk and Jay Gould, two Wall Street financiers, bought a significant amount of gold in the hope of its price surging. Instead, the opposite occurred and in turn, many Wall Street barons were left bankrupt. All of this took place on Friday September 24 1869, making it “Black Friday”.

It wasn’t until the ‘50s that the phrase connected itself to the shopping event. In Philadelphia in the 1950s, many tourists and shoppers came to the city the Friday following thanksgiving to watch a major football game. It’s said the ensuing mix of shoplifters, violent crowds and huge traffic jams caused the police department to dub the day Black Friday.

Black Friday is also said to represent a company’s revenue moving out of the red and into the black – or profit.
