A teacher from Burlington is facing child pornography charges following a police investigation.

Halton Regional Police said an investigation began in May by its Internet Child Exploitation Unit into a person that was allegedly sharing child sexual abuse material.

Following an investigation, police arrested Matthew Wicks, 29, on Wednesday. He faces two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police said Wicks had been a partial-load faculty member at Mohawk College, teaching between 7 and 12 hours per week. He is also the Head Percussion Instructor for the Burlington Teen Tour Band.
