Senior motoring journalist Paul Gover says most Australians don’t want or can’t afford an electric car, yet the Albanese government continues to push for more EV sales.
The federal government revealed it will set minimum standards for manufacturers on fuel consumption and carbon emissions in vehicles they sell in Australia.
“The vast majority of Australians don’t want an electric car,” Mr Gover told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Most of them also can’t afford an electric car.
“The sort of people he’s trying to convince with all of this sort of stuff – they can’t afford any sort of new car.
“Saying you’re going to save $1,000 when you buy a new car, that’s great – the vast majority of Australians are going to hang onto what they’ve got, or they’re moving into a secondhand car.”
