The Oodie is discounting almost all Oodies by 50 per cent off – a discount you’re only going to see during the Black Friday sales. Pizza lovers, now is the time to snap up the limited edition Pizza Oodie for 50 per cent off, bringing it down to $54.40.

If you’re shopping around for the “best mattress ever”, head on over to Sleep Republic. You can grab 15 per cent off sitewide with the code ‘BLACKFRIDAY15’ – the range of mattresses and accessories have thousands of five-star ratings.

We’ve also spotted a rare discount on our fave skincare brand Go-To and Alemais’ exclusive summer collaboration – including $20 off the Let It Glow: Revel in Radiance pack which comes with three of Go-To’s best-selling full sized products.

We’re obsessed with the luxury packaging and any of the Go-To Holiday Gifts and Sets would make the perfect Christmas pressie for the beauty lover in your life.

This year Black Friday falls on Friday November 24. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Australian retail turnover rose 1.4 per cent in November 2022 to a new record high.

Ben Dorber, ABS head of retail statistics, said the rise in turnover was driven by Black Friday sales, which boosted spending on clothing, footwear, furniture, and electronic goods.

“While we typically see a rise in spending around Black Friday sales, the strong seasonally adjusted rise in November 2022 shows that the effect is increasing over time, as the event has become more common across retailers and sales periods become longer.”

“Given the increasing popularity of Black Friday sales, the smaller increase in October may reflect consumers waiting to take advantage of discounting in November, particularly in light of cost-of-living pressures.”

Black Friday first began in the US on the Friday following Thanksgiving, which is observed on the fourth Thursday of November.

Traditionally, this Friday marked the beginning of the holiday spending rush but in recent years it has snowballed into a global shopping phenomenon where retailers offer staggering discounts on a range of products across technology, beauty, fashion, homewares and more.

In Australia, Black Friday now competes with Boxing Day as our biggest shopping extravaganza.

The Black Friday sales are indeed real – they don’t happen often, only once a year, so you’re going to want to shop them while you can.

As with all online purchases where you’re handing over your credit card details, it pays to do your due diligence to make sure you are not buying from a scam website.

We recommend being extremely suspicious of dubious links to deals posted on social media, or random, unsolicited emails containing deals that are far too good to be true.

It also pays to keep your computer updated with the latest security software.

Cyber Monday is Black Friday’s trusty counterpart. Held on the Monday following Thanksgiving, Cyber Monday initially began in 2005 as the “online” version of Black Friday back when online shopping wasn’t quite as prolific as it is today.

Cyber Monday is the Monday straight after Black Friday. So, it will be held on Monday 27 November.
