Although many people think that Uganda is an unsafe place to visit, this is not the case, although it pays to be careful of your personal belongings, as is the case anywhere else you might visit. What is the Food Like in Uganda?

Ugandan food is often delicious. I was lucky enough to visit Uganda a few years ago and was amazed at the richness of local dishes. If you love Arabic and Asian food, you’ll love the food you find in Uganda. Many of the traditional dishes served in restaurants consist of sauce dishes or meat-based stews served with ugali (a thick pasta made from maize). Look out for Matoke, which is a stew made from chicken and green bananas, it is delicious!

Another popular food in Uganda is fish. Ugandans really love fish, particularly tilapia and tiger fish. However, these aren’t the only options available to you. You can also try something a little bit different such as deep-fried grasshoppers. Nswaa is another interesting dish to look out for, and by interesting I mean something you won’t see anywhere in the West! Yes, this one is fried white ants. You may spot them being sold in food stalls. Go on, give it a try.

Uganda is such an amazing country. Book your next trip there and find out for yourself why it’s worth visiting. Trust me, you’ll love it!
