On Thursday, Trail RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said they were notified that Gregory Dean Gritchin, 55, had not been in contact with family for the past four days.

“This lack of contact with family is unusual for Mr. Gritchin and sparked concern for his well-being,” Grandy said.

Police went to Gritchin’s home in Genelle — a small community between Castlegar and Trail — but could not locate him.

Gritchin’s grey 2018 Jeep Cherokee and his small dog Tessla were also missing.

Gritchin, a longtime realtor, was last seen in the 100-block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar. Gritchin was known to travel with his dog on work and social trips.

Police believe Gritchin may have suffered a medical emergency.

Almost 10 years ago to the day, Gritchin was rescued by lifeguards at the Castlegar aquatic Centre after suffering a heart attack.
