Following a complaint of psychological harassment, Liberal Party of Quebec MNA Frédéric Beauchemin was suspended temporarily from the party caucus.
Liberal Party interim leader Marc Tanguay confirmed Saturday he asked Beauchemin to leave the caucus, at least until light can be shed on the allegations.

The Journal de Québec reported Thursday that the president of the party’s youth wing, Élyse Moisan, filed a complaint against Beauchemin, who represents the Marguerite-Bourgeoys riding.

She said she felt intimidated and threatened by his team.
“In light of recent events, I asked the MNA for Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Fred Beauchemin, to withdraw from the caucus for as long as it takes for the (investigation) process to be completed,” Tanguay wrote Saturday on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Beauchemin was the only member of the party to so far show interest in running to be its leader. In a statement, he said he understands the party’s decision.
“I have no doubt that I will be quickly reinstated with my colleagues,” he wrote on X.
He said earlier this week that the allegations are not founded, but that he will co-operate with the party so the investigation process can be thoroughly completed.
