Sky News host Chris Kenny says politicians have “wrecked” Australia’s electricity grid in a “futile attempt” to make climate cooler.
Mr Kenny’s comments come after the weather bureau declared an El Nino weather pattern, meaning Australia is in for a “hotter and drier summer.”
“That means our electricity grid is gonna be tested because that’s when we get our peak electricity demand – when everyone’s got their airconditioning on,” Mr Kenny said.
“The reason we have such a fragile electricity grid with expensive and unreliable power and insufficient generation is because governments have been obsessed with reducing emissions.
“Now, when we desperately need electricity to keep cool in summer – we face the prospect of days when we might not have enough electricity to meet demand.”
