“No spill bowl” for large dogs doesn’t stand a chance against puppy

This week we’ve seen a Chihuahua have a hilarious reaction to being petted without his permission and a puppy bark back at her owner during crate training.

This week’s Pet of the Week is a puppy who hilariously found a loophole in the bowl his owner purchased for him.

Labrador puppy Brodie decided to put his new water bowl to the test in a hilarious video sent by his owner Janet Pennington.

“It was advertised as ‘no spill bowl for large dogs, splash proof, pet water dispenser for messy drinkers,'” Pennington told Newsweek, but she was left unconvinced after Brodie got hold of the product himself.

Despite being designed to avoid spills, Brodie made short work of getting around the no-spill design, putting his paws into the water and splashing as hard as he could.

The funny video shows Brodie has managed to completely soak the floor in a hilarious display of puppy antics.

Finalists

Our first finalist this week is 9-month-old rescue KT. An American bully, she was rescued by Indianapolis Metro Police who were worried she may be used for breeding.

“A person must have been very mean to this dog,” owner Kimberly Travitz told Newsweek.

She explained that while she was not looking for a dog that day, taking on KT has brought her plenty of joy.

“We have had to put three of my previous dogs down. That was so hard. Now I have KT in my life. Life is good,” she said.

Next up this week is Mickey, a rescue dog who was adopted by owner Roberta Rivera.

After the passing of her first dog, Snowflake, Rivera and her husband decided to explore the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for a new furry friend. Despite not initially connecting with the dogs at the shelter, Roberta’s heart was captured by a 10-year-old male dog she named Mickey.

Despite being a purebred with a $200 adoption fee, she insisted Mickey was the one, and the shelter, moved by her commitment, waived the fee.

“He reminded me of Snowflake too. Except he’s a boy,” Rivera told Newsweek. “I took him for a walk. And at first, he was scared. But I gave him time and he came around. I sat down on the floor and he came right up to me and laid across my lap. He put his head down and went to sleep. I knew then he was mine.”

Finally this week is Doshie and Autumn, a cat and dog duo who live with owner Kelsey Cummins.

While they were unsure of each other at first, the two are now the best of friends. Cummins told Newsweek: “I’ve had my dog for two years now but for nine months this year she’s lived with my mom and stepdad because I moved out. To keep me company I got a cat.”

Earlier this year, they were introduced for the first time: “The cat was apprehensive to say the least while the dog just wanted to play because of her 2-year-old puppy mentality. The hissing match was a daily thing,” said Cummins.

But after a month of trying to help them become friends, the owner was stunned to walk in one day and find the pair curled up together.

“Doshie was having her ears licked by Autumn, something that normally Doshie does to Autumn instead,” said Cummins. “They’ve become inseparable and often sleep together like that.”
