National Cinema Day brings $4 tickets this Sunday

    [ad_1]

Moviegoers can score $4 tickets this Sunday, August 27th, to help celebrate the second annual National Cinema Day.

National Cinema Day is upon us, with The Cinema Foundation offering their second year of major discounts at the movies, with more than 3,000 theaters commemorating the occasion by offering tickets at no more than $4 on Sunday, August 27th. That is a lot of Ken-ergy!

As per the official release, National Cinema Day is meant for fans “to gather for a national day to celebrate the magic of the movies on the big screen.” Adding to the release, the president of The Cinema Foundation said, “Following the rousing success of the first annual National Cinema Day, we welcome everyone to join us for the communal experience of one of America’s favorite pastimes – moviegoing…We look forward to gathering at the movies and celebrating an exciting slate of new releases and classics, from beloved family favorites and outrageous comedies to thought-provoking dramas and thrilling adventures. There’s something for everyone. Let’s all go!” You can check out participating theaters and get tickets at http://www.nationalcinemaday.org/.

This will be the second annual National Cinema Day following last year’s wildly successful inaugural event, which took place during the first weekend of September. On that Labor Day weekend, Top Gun: Maverick returned to the top spot at the box office for the first time since June, pushing it closer to its domestic haul of nearly $720 million.

So far this year, the top three movies at the worldwide box office have been The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Barbie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. With Mario and Luigi and the Knowhere gang currently streaming, it looks like Barbie could easily earn some extra coin after losing this past weekend to DC’s Blue Beetle.

Movies opening the weekend of National Cinema Day include video game adaptation Gran Turismo, biopic Golda (with Helen Mirren playing Prime Minister of Israel Golda Meir) and baseball drama The Hill. Meanwhile, streaming services will have sequel Vacation Friends 2 (Hulu) and You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah (Netflix).

What will you check out on National Cinema Day? Will you use the opportunity to rewatch a movie or check out a new release? Let us know in the comments section below!
