Israel confirms its troops have encircled Gaza City as part of its ground offensive.
The IDF says engineers are working to find underground infrastructure and neutralise threats.
The firefight in the Gaza Strip between Israeli soldiers and Hamas fighters have intensified for days and Israeli officials have confirmed its forces have entered Gaza City.
Israel Defence Forces Lt General Herzi Halevi said Israeli forces had arrived in the heart of northern Gaza and surrounded every direction.
“Our soldiers have been operating in Gaza City for the past few days, surrounding it from several directions, deepening the operations,” Mr Halevi said.
“Our forces are in very significant areas of Gaza City.”
