Hudson Institute senior fellow Michael Doran discusses how the Biden administration’s approach to stabilising the Middle East “just isn’t working” amid the rising threat of Iran.
Mr Doran said The Islamic Republic of Iran cannot be deterred with “purely defensive means”.
“That has been the Biden administration’s policy,” he said.
“Whenever Iran has threatened the states of Saudi Arabia, the US has come in and tried to cut a deal with Iran and Yemen, which meant restraining Saudi Arabia in return for a quiet life from the Iranians.
“But ultimately, the Iranians just use their puppets to carry out kind of salami tactics against America’s allies – Saudi Arabia, the UAE and now Israel.”
