Indore and Surat have been adjudged India’s cleanest cities with President Droupadi Murmu handing over the awards. While Indore gets the crown for the seventh time in a row, this is a first for Surat.
This is the first time that two cities have been jointly awarded the top spot in the Swachh Survekshan Awards. Meanwhile, Maharashtra was declared the cleanest state.
In 2022, while Indore had bagged the top spot, it was followed by Surat and Navi Mumbai.
