Residents in the Hunter Region of New South Wales say they are not getting straight answers from the state government on who’s responsible for delivering a renewable transmission line that has them in its path.
Sky News Australia has spoken with affected and angry landholders in the area as the clock ticks down to Monday’s close for submissions to have their say on the huge new energy project.
The goal to cut CO2 emissions by 70 per cent by 2035 has triggered a once-in-a-generation infrastructure challenge with ageing coal-fired gradually being shut down.
The Hunter Transmission Project is a planned 115km long, 500 KV transmission line connecting Bayswater in the Upper Hunter to Eraring on the Central Coast.
EnergyCo is forging ahead with the planned route despite desperate calls from many landholders for an alternative.
