International student Gurvinder Nath, 24, was an “innocent victim” lured to his death with a Pizza Pizza order, Peel Regional Police suspect.

The food delivery driver from Brampton was working in the Britannia and Creditview Rds. area of Mississauga just after 2 a.m. on July 9 when he fell victim to a carjacking and was severely injured in the process.

His car was taken and he was found with life-threatening injuries at the side of the road. He died in hospital on July 14.
Homicide Bureau Insp. Phil King said Friday that police have identified a suspect vehicle — a 2012-17 model white Hyundai Accent Sedan with a distinctive flashing blue light inside the top of the windshield — “observed multiple times in the area prior to the robbery taking place.”
King said the light was likely bought as an accessory after the car was purchased. A male wearing dark clothing is seen exiting the vehicle and walking towards where the carjacking took place.

“Investigators do believe that there are multiple suspects involved and that the food order was placed as a means of luring the driver to this specific area,” said King.
“Every potential motive is being explored in this investigation but at this time, all indications are that Gurvinder was an innocent victim.”
He said police are analyzing the call made to place the Pizza Pizza order and said it may yet be released to the public.
Nath’s vehicle was found hours after the incident abandoned in the area of Old Derry and Old Creditview Rds. in Mississauga.
“His vehicle has since been forensically examined and several pieces of evidence have been collected,” King said.
When asked why the car would be stolen and then ditched not far away, the inspector said: “The working theory is that perhaps there may have been extensive injuries that may not have been anticipated and that may have caused them to get rid of the vehicle early.”
