Defence Minister Richard Marles says the AUKUS deal is still “on track” despite US Republican senators expressing concerns over the agreement.
“We’re obviously talking with the United States all the time about the progress of the nuclear-powered submarine agreement and we are confident that it is on track,” he told Sky News Australia.
“Legislation which goes through the US congress is a complicated process – we are expecting all of this to play out in the way that it has.
“We are encouraged by the pace with which this is proceeding through the Congress … it is on track.”
