The agency announced the pending closure December, saying it would focus instead on collecting plasma.

Plasma is the straw-coloured liquid in blood which helps other blood components circulate through the body. It can be used to help make other vital medications.
The centre had served as a location for blood donors for many years and while blood services in Windsor will focus on collecting plasma, mobile clinics for O-negative and rare blood donors will be held to “meet the unique needs of patients across the country,” Canadian Blood Services said in a statement.
The first of these will be held Oct. 17, in Oldcastle at Ciociaro Club, 3745 North Talbot Road. More events are planned.
The news plasma centre, expected to open in the winter of 2024, will be located at 3015 Howard Ave, Unit 1 (Plaza Roundhouse Centre).
