Perth was hit with heavy winds and inundated with rain as a cold front smashed into the city early Wednesday.
After a week of light showers and winds, Wednesday morning marked a substantial shift in Perth’s weekly forecast, with wind gusts of up to 80km/h whacking into the metro area.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Luke Huntington said the worst of the storm had passed and bouts of sunny weather prevail.
“The cold front moved through at about 5pm last night, leaving the city with cold air and high winds,” he said.
“There was about 1-5mm of rainfall, which is pretty typical for winter weather.
“The worst weather has passed and we can expect light showers, clearing up in the afternoon.”
The remainder of the week will also see light showers, with sunny skies and warmer weather expected to emerge over the weekend.
