    Windsor’s Electrozad Supply Company Ltd. has been acquired by the French electric supply firm Sonepar.

    Founded in 1969, the family-owned Sonepar group is a global leader in electrical business-to-business distributorship offering 80 brands in 40 countries with 45,000 employees and sales of $49.15 billion in 2023.

    “Electrozad will be able to leverage Sonepar’s capabilities and scale to provide a world-class customer experience and expand professional growth opportunities for our team while continuing our strong supplier partnerships, positioning the company for continued growth into the future,” said Electrozad’s vice president of sales and operations James Taylor.

    Electrozad, founded in 1955, has over 100 employees at its headquarters in Windsor and branch operations in London, Sarnia and Chatham. The company has built a reputation as a leading supplier to businesses in the electrics and automation industries.

    “We are proud of our achievements over the years, and we are very excited for our future as a member of the largest family-owned, global distributor,” said Electrozad CEO William Smith.

    “Sonepar will provide the support, vision and expertise required to ensure continued growth for our employees, customers and suppliers.”

    The acquisition of Electrozad will expand Sonepar’s OEM/industrial footprint across Southwestern Ontario.

    The Paris-based firm entered Canada in 1984. Sonepar currently has a network of over 90 locations nationwide.
