A suspicious death in Erie Beach of a Windsor man is being treated as a homicide, say Chatham-Kent police, who are appealing to the public for information.
In a media release Thursday, police identified the deceased as Michael Allard, 40, of Windsor.

“Chatham-Kent Police Service extends condolences to Mr. Allard’s family during this difficult time,” police said. “. . . This is considered an isolated incident with no concern for public safety.”

According to previously published details, officers responded to a report of a person requiring emergency services at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday.
“It was reported the individual had sustained a gunshot wound while at a residence on Towanda Boulevard in Erie Beach,” police said Wednesday.
A man was found dead at the scene, police added.
Based on initial information received, officers secured the area and remained on scene throughout the day in the small lakeside community about 25 kilometres south of Chatham.
To maintain the integrity of the investigation, specific details aren’t being released at this time.
It is believed that Allard was known to Windsor police.
On Wednesday, a resident, who didn’t want to be identified, said Erie Beach is a connected community where most people know one another.
“News and information like this is troublesome, so you hope it doesn’t impact too many people,” the resident said.
