Bronny James could be back on the court soon.
Lakers superstar LeBron James revealed that his son, Bronny, would be going for a checkup at the end of the month and if cleared he would practice, according to to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
The goal is for Bronny to return to game action this season for the USC Trojans.
When Bronny could make his USC debut is unclear, but he has been making progress since suffering cardiac arrest during workout over the summer on the USC campus.
The son of the NBA superstar was released from the hospital three days later.
In September, USC basketball coach Andy Enfield told ESPN in September that Bronny was “doing very well.”
“He’s around when he can be,” Enfield said at the time. “And he’s getting caught up [with] some schoolwork and doing very well. His grades are excellent right now, and he’s being the true student-athlete.”
USC had ruled out Bronny for the start of the season and he didn’t partake in the three-game summer tour the school went on to Greece and Croatia.
LeBron James revealed that Bronny had started the rehab process back during Lakers media in October.
“Bronny is doing extremely well,” James said on Oct. 2. “He has begun his rehab process to get back on the floor this season with his teammates at USC. (With) the successful surgery that he had, he’s on the up-and-up. It’s definitely a whirlwind, a lot of emotions for our family this summer. But the best thing we have is each other and we stuck behind each other and gave each other strength through the whole process.
“We are happy to see where he is today and we look forward to seeing what his future still has in store for him.”
Bronny was with the Trojans on Monday night when they took on Kansas State at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
