A man in his 50s has died after a crash between a van and an e-scooter in Co Sligo last night.
The crash occurred at approximately 8.10pm in the townland of Rusheen, Riverstown.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by the van.
The male driver of the van (30s) incurred minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Sligo University Hospital.
The L1303 road is currently closed in Rusheen pending a technical examination of the scene by garda forensic collision investigators.
Local diversions are in place.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred yesterday evening, Wednesday, 25th October 2023 in Riverstown, County Sligo.”
“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.”
“Anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Rusheen, Riverstown yesterday evening between 7.30pm and 8.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.”
“Anyone with information in relation to this collision is asked to contact Ballymote Garda Station on 071 918 9500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.”
