An hours-long armed standoff continued into the night Wednesday after Windsor police descended on an east end home where a man was barricaded inside.
“Officers are currently investigating the situation right now, trying to negotiate with this male,” Const. Bianca Jackson said Wednesday afternoon. “At this time, we are limited to the information we have.”

Windsor police officers including the tactical team started arriving at the house, at the intersection of Francois Road and Metcalfe Street, around 1 p.m. after receiving a report about a man with a weapon.
The service said there would be a “heavy police presence” in the area, and Metcalfe Street would be closed between Bernard Road and Ellrose Avenue, until further notice.
Jackson said Wednesday afternoon that police believed there was one person in the house.

“Of course, as the investigation continues we will be able to know more about who is inside and what exactly brought us to this situation,” she said.
Police did not say what sparked the situation.
“Once the officers have safely secured this person and made sure the residence is safe for all parties who are inside, we will then be able to release more information on exactly what brought us here,” said Jackson.
