Doja Cat has come under fire after wearing a t-shirt that pictured controversial “neo-Nazi” comic Sam Hyde in a recent social media post.

On Friday, the 27-year-old American artist posted — and soon deleted — photos of herself on Instagram wearing a black t-shirt that pictured Hyde holding a rifle — an image often used as a meme in the aftermath of mass shootings.

Followers immediately took to social media to express their disappointment over the singer’s choice of clothing.

“Imagine being a pick me for incels… like Doja cat is really trying her best to be cancelled and un-famous [sic] again just so she can get back to those racial chat rooms full time,” one person tweeted.

“Doja Cat is a trailer trash white woman hands down. She ain’t no dummy tho because she’s catering to that cult so if a lot of her Black fans fall off she can still maintain her career,” another wrote.

In 2017, Hyde pledged $5000 to neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer after its editor Andrew Anglin faced a legal battle over his alleged “trolling” against a Jewish woman, the Los Angeles Times reports.

After deleting the controversial photo, Doja Cat later replaced it with a cropped version of the image with Hyde’s face removed, which was captioned with multiple rolling eyes emojis.

Fans were quick to respond again, with one stating: “girl get it together. This isn’t cute or funny”.

“Tha fact that some of y’all are defending her on that shirt is beyond me,” another wrote.

“Pick me girl for white men,” one added.

This isn’t the first time Doja Cat has been called out for her “controversial” behaviour. In May 2020, footage went viral of the singer allegedly participating in online chat rooms associated with alt-right and racist groups.

As of July of this year, the singer once again faced backlash after slamming her fan’s unofficial nickname “Kittenz”.

Taking to X, formally Twitter, Doja Cat wrote: “My fans don’t name themselves s—t. If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f—king ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”

The “Paint the Town Red” singer has not responded directly to any criticism since the post was re-published.
