Congress leaders met Governor Acharya Devvrat on Thursday and submitted a memorandum reiterating their demand to form a special investigation team to investigate the recent floods in south Gujarat, which they said were man-made.
A delegation led by Congress state president Shaktisinh Gohil met the governor and submitted a list of 17 demands.
Claiming that the state government officials in charge of managing the water flow from the Sardar Sarovar dam had violated the rulebook, the party leaders demanded immediate legal action against them.

The government should conduct a detailed study on why several lakh cusecs of water was released from the dam, leading to flooding in the downstream areas of Bharuch, Narmada and Vadodara districts, the memorandum stated.
The Congress leaders also said the compensation announced by the government for the flood victims in three three districts was inadequate and therefore pressed for a special package. They demanded that the compensation be awarded to all affected farmers, without limiting it to those who have suffered 33 per cent or more crop loss.
The Opposition party also demanded that a study should be conducted of the downstream areas that were affected by the sudden release of water. A drone and satellite survey of the affected areas was also among the demands.
