David Foster, Skylark to be added to Vancouver’s StarWalk

Composer and writer David Foster and the band Skylark will be added to Vancouver’s StarWalk, the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame (BCEHOF) announced on Monday.

They join the 300-plus previous inductees who have been recognized for their significant contribution to the province’s entertainment industry and cultural landscape.

Foster and Skylar founder BJ Cook, who were married from 1972-81, will attend the star presentation in front of the iconic Commodore Ballroom on Sept. 22 at 10:30 a.m. The public are invited to attend.

“These inductees are especially poignant because they represent the heart of the B.C. entertainment sector given the 50th anniversary of the massive hit Wildflower by Skylark and the countless hits David Foster has had on the global music, film and entertainment industries,” said Bill Allman, BCEHOF President in a statement.

Along with Cook and Foster, the original Skylark band included guitarist/composer Doug Edwards, vocalist Donny Gerrard, bassist Steve Pugsley, drummer Duris Maxwell, keyboardist Robbie King, backing vocalist Bobby Taylor and lyricist Dave Richardson.

“To this day, Foster includes Wildflower in his Hitman concerts and tips his hat to BJ as the root of his success,” the statement from the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame.
