State Highway 6 is closed near Kingston following a serious crash early today.
Police said a member of the public reported the single-vehicle crash, at the southern end of Lake Wakatipu, about 4.30am.
Initial indications suggested there were serious injuries.
Waka Kotahi said the road was likely to remain closed for several hours, and motorists were asked to delay travel.
