Sky News host Chris Kenny sat down with Douglas Shire Council Mayor Michael Kerr to discuss the areas which have seen “24-hour rainfall”.
“The floods that have been caused by record rain in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Jasper,” Mr Kenny said.
“Areas around Cairns have seen 24-hour rainfall totals of more than 300 millimetres.
“Even in a tropical zone used to heavy downpours, the scale of the flooding, the power and extent of the floodwaters has been absolutely incredible and devastating.
“The ADF has mobilised to help hundreds of people in Cairns and surrounds, sending four helicopters and boats to the area.”
